A wide-mouthed ceramic bowl designed specifically for whisking matcha. The generous shape provides enough room to whisk comfortably and develop a smooth layer of foam without spilling.
Each bowl is handmade, so subtle differences in glaze, texture, and form are part of its character. The weight and contours are intended to feel balanced in the hands, making preparation and drinking equally considered.
Suitable for both usucha and koicha, and a foundational piece for any matcha practice.
Hand wash in warm water. Mild detergent is fine on the glaze, though rinsing usually does the job — matcha leaves little residue.
Avoid sudden temperature changes. Pouring boiling water into a cold bowl, or plunging a warm bowl into cold water, is what crazes a glaze and eventually cracks it. Warming the bowl before use is good practice for the tea and good for the ceramic.
Dry thoroughly before stacking or storing. The unglazed foot ring holds moisture longer than the rest of the piece and will mark a shelf if put away damp.
Not dishwasher safe.
